Marriage in many cultures is treated as a sacred bond, which transcends other relationships in a man’s or a woman’s life. It is often portrayed as a milestone in a person’s life in which he/she decides to commit their entire life to another person.
Many say that the institution of marriage throws up a lot of responsibilities on a person, especially if he/she lived a sheltered life until now.
It is such a remarkable occasion in a person’s life that it is bound to make people turn over a new leaf, or to teach them a lesson or two. It has the capacity of profoundly influencing a persons’ life, for good. Here are three reasons how marriage can make you a better person:
- Makes you more mature: It has the potential of making you more aware of the bigger picture of life. It can make you realize that you have a greater responsibility towards others. As in many cultures, it is the imperative of married children to take care of their parents when they are older.
- Makes you more broad-minded: There are going to be instances in life when you are going to argue with your husband or wife. It will make you realize that it is all about communicating, understanding other’s point of view, and compromising in some cases. It tends to make one more cool minded and less parochial about other’s opinions.
- Makes you look forward to coming home each day: In a loving and caring relationships, you are bound to start your day with a good mood. The saying ‘attack the day’ is perhaps reminiscent of a healthy relationship. When things are good at home, you are more likely to get more things done as you’re less distracted at work and otherwise. Also, after a long and tedious day at work, it feels nice to come home to someone who adores you and waits for you every day.
