6 Questions You Should Ask Your Spouse Before Marriage

Marriage is great, as it gives you the opportunity to spend the rest of your life with your spouse. Although marriage has a lot of good times, it also comes with its fair share of difficulties. It is important that you know what you are getting into, before marrying your spouse. Here are six questions you should ask your spouse before marriage:

Are you looking to have children?

The first question you should ask is if your spouse wants to have children. If yes, find out if your spouse is willing to try different methods to get a baby, in case you have issues with your fertility. Also, ask your spouse if he/she is open to adoption.

How are we going to manage our finances?

It is vital you understand how you and your spouse are going to handle the finances, as the last thing you want to fight about is money. Find out if your spouse expects you to handle certain costs together or be completely financially independent.

Why do you love me?

By asking this question, you get to know the real reason why your partner loves you. Make sure that your spouse’s answer talks about your inner qualities, rather than your physical appearance.

What is the plan of action to keep the spark alive?

The thing about a relationship is that it requires a lot of work to keep it going. Only depending on love to sail you through all difficulties, will never be a reality. Due to this, you must find out what efforts your spouse will take to keep the relationship alive and thriving.

What is your idea of a good parent?

You want to establish boundaries on how you and your spouse should treat children. For instance, will you use only positive reinforcement to ensure your children develop the right habits?

Will you support me through difficult times?

There will be rough times in your marriage, such as you losing your job or going through financial difficulties due to unexpected expenses. Even though every partner will say yes, ask him/her how he/she will help you and be a pillar of support during difficult times.
